Man Held On Trial For Stealing Phone

The Magistrates’ Court in Badagry is prosecuting one Semeko Atewon for allegedly stealing a phone.

At a previous arraignment of the suspect, Police Prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, disclosed that the 18-year-old is on trial on one count charge of stealing.

Ekpo went further to inform the court that Atewon stole the item, an Infinix Smart 8 phone worth N150,000, on July 5 at about 9.00.a.m at Jackos filling station, Ibereko, Badagry.

He said that the offence contravenes Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Atewon pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Nurudeen Layeni, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000, with one surety in like sum.

Layeni said that one of the sureties must be a community leader with an evidence of two-year tax payment clearance.

He adjourned the case till August 26.
