MAN CHARGED TO COURT OVER ALLEDGED THEFT

A 20-year-old apprentice, Izuchukwu Odinko has been arrested by the police for alleged to have stolen a bag containing clothes worth N20,000 and N5, 000 cash belonging to one Friday Omege.

Odinko, a resident of Ejigbo was said to have committed the crime by threatening and attacking Omege with a knife at Pipeline bus stop in Ejigbo onJuly 10 at about 2:17 pm in the afternoon. He was however apprehended by some pedestrians who after chasing and fetching him handed him over to the Policemen who brought before the court to face the law.

During the proceedings at the Ikeja Chief Magistrates court, Odinko was charged with conspiracy and stealing which was said to have contravened sections 295 and 297 of the Criminal Code of Lagos State, 2011.

The law stipulates a three year jail term for anyone who has been found guilty.

However, the defendant denied committing the offence.

The Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000, with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until September 14 for mention.
