Man Arraigned Over Missing Fire Boat

One Segun Zamezu is facing trial for allegedly stealing a fire boat worth N5,000,000.
Zamezu, 24, is facing prosecution on charges of conspiracy and stealing.
He pleaded not guilty.
Nonetheless, the prosecution submitted at the Badagry Magistrates’ Court that Zamezu, alongside others not yet apprehended, commited the offences on February 25 in Badagry, stealing the item which belongs to his employer and complainant, Ibraheem Gbadamosi.
It also added that the accused was given the boat for commercial use. However, the defendant allegedly fled without his trace and the boat.
The charges against Zamezu was said to have contravened Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State. The Section stipulates a three year jail term for theft and two for conspiracy.
The Presiding Magistrate, Nurudeen Layeni, granted Zamezu bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Layeni adjourned the case till April 16.
