Magistrate Remands 65-Year-Old For Raping One-Year-Old Baby

A suspect identified as Idris Danladi has been remanded in prison over allegations of rape on a one-year-old baby.
Danladi was arraigned by the police at the Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya, having listened to the Police Prosecutor, Inspector Ayodele Adeosun, ordered the suspect’s remand at the Awarijigoh Correctional Centre in Badagry. He subsequently adjourned the case till October 9.
Adeosun stated that Danladi, who pleaded not guilty to one count charge of defilement, committed the offence on August 9 near Customs Quarters in Seme Border, Badagry, Lagos.
The prosecutor added that the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 261 and 263 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate adjourned the case in expectation of legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP.
