Court Frees ENDSARS Protesters After Four Years In Prison

The Ikeja Magistrates’ Court has discharged six men who were apprehended during the #ENDSARS protest in the year 2020.

Magistrate Bola Osunsanmi pardoned the sextet at a proceeding held at the court in on Thursday.

The men were identified as Daniel Joyinbo, 31, Adigun Sodiq, 28, Kehinde Shola, 32, Salaudeen Kamilu, 29, Sodiq Usseni, 33 and Azeez Isiaka, 34.

During their prosecution in the year 2020, the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, Babajide Martins, said that they pleaded guilty to one count charge of breach of public peace preferred against them by the Lagos State Government.

They were subsequently sentenced to prison in their arraignement.

Martins disclosed that the protesters commited the offence on November 23, 2020 at Ebutte Metta, Lagos. He further added that the offence contravened Section 168(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

However, the court on Thursday gave them a pardon, cautioning them to desist from lawless act which could hamper peaceful atmosphere in the state.
