LWC Urges Against Use Of Water At Akilo Waterworks

The Lagos State Water Corporation, LWC, has urged against use and consumption of water at Akilo Waterworks at Ifako-Ijaiye until completion of ongoing works at the facility.
Residents in Ifako-Ijaiye where the facility is situated have been warned that the water is not safe for consumption and domestic use as it can have negative effects on good health.
The initiative which commenced in February and at it’s test-running phase is aimed at supplying and distribution of clean and reliable water in the community.
The LWC stated that the initiative a testament of the state government’s commitment to sustainable urban water management and improving the quality of life in the metropolis.
A statement by the LWC reads, “We are beginning the crucial phase of the test-running of the revitalised Waterworks, alongside rigorous checks of the distribution network, which has been dry for an extended period.
“This will help us identify and fix any leakages before we begin full operation.
“The residents, however, have been warned to desist from consumption of test-running water scheduled to take place between Friday, 4th July 2025, and Saturday, 12th July 2025.
“During this test-running phase, the water flowing through the distribution network is not safe for drinking or domestic use. Please, do not consume the water until further notice.”
