LWC CEO, Tijani Unveils Plans To Move Corporation Forward
The Managing Director of the Lagos Water Corporation, Engr. Mukhtaar Tijani has unveiled an ambitious strategic plan aimed at propelling the organization forward.
This was contained in a statement by the Head of Public Affairs of the corporation, Mrs. Kehinde Fashola.
The plan which focuses on sustainability, efficiency, and enhanced service delivery was unveiled during a staff-management forum at the corporation’s headquarters, where open communication and collaboration with the staff were emphasized.
In response to queries by members of staff about the central thrust of his vision for the organization, the MD disclosed that the organization has many projects in progress which would yield positive results in the future.
He, however, owned that the corporation was focusing on identifying and serving a smaller, unique segment in the market in order to save a lot of time and effort while focusing on creating added value.
He revealed that the corporation was going to identify key areas or zones critical for water supply and where focusing resources can result in the greatest value.
The first step, he revealed, was to assess the existing water distribution network and evaluate the needs and demands of various areas served by the agency before reallocating resources and services to increase value.
According to him, the corporation may need to modify its infrastructure to ensure that the chosen areas receive a reliable and high-quality water supply.
He also revealed that this could include infrastructure upgrades and reconfiguration of distribution networks.
He also noted that the selected areas are likely to have the most significant water demand, but this decision would be reached while also evaluating existing infrastructure in these areas.
Mr. Gafar Semakko, the chairman of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE), LWC chapter while reacting to the disclosed plans, called for an open and transparent communication with all stakeholders.
He owned that building trust and ensuring the needs and concerns of stakeholders are addressed is key for the fulfilment of goals.
He also pledged his trust in the capacities of every member of staff to efficiently carry out their duties and to provide support to ensure the growth of the organization.
Engr. Helen Taiwo, the Executive Director (Operations), explained that every organization facing challenges would need to adopt a strategy that would enable its leaders to guide the organization into a new era of change and success.
She owned that the corporation needs a new strategy to increase profit margins and promote the overall success of the organization.
The Managing Director, after addressing other concerns raised by other members of staff, expressed his commitment to transparency and accountability throughout the process
He invited community members, media outlets, and stakeholders to engage with any questions and stay informed about the agency’s progress.
