has shrugged off threats posed by other teams in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) Championship Playoffs.
At the end of the regular season, Lobi Stars came second in Group B with 30 points from 18 matches to seal a place in the Super Six playoffs.
The composed Kuhwa said it is the tradition of the Pride of Benue to win the league title as they did in 1999 because the club is well prepared coming for the playoffs.
“It had been the tradition of Lobi Stars to always win such a tournament. We have done this in 1999 and the following year which is 2000, we came third. With what we have on the ground, I believe our team will go as far as winning this NPL Championship Super Six,” he told Nigeria football.ng.
“Lobi Stars are well prepared psychologically, physically, and in every aspect of the game. We are satisfied with the pitch and I’m happy we are playing at that particular turf because the boys are going to exhibit what they have in them, good pitch, good environment and I believe we will go far in the competition.”
Despite playing their home matches in unfamiliar terrain, the tactician admitted it wasn’t an easy task making it to the Super Six playoffs.
“Qualifying for the Super Six wasn’t easy for Lobi Stars especially since we are playing away from home you can recall our home matches were played in Jos because the Lobi Stars pitch wasn’t approved. So the task of moving from Makurdi financially, physically the boys were prepared in all aspects, and playing in a home ground where your fans are not there to cheer you up, highest you will have less than 20 people cheering you up. It wasn’t easy but we thank God we were able to scale through to qualify for the Super Six.”
Lobi Stars will trade tackles with Bendel Insurance in their first game at the Super Six playoffs on the third of June at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos.
