The caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Barr. Gani Bello, has fired back at the major opposition party – the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), saying APC will retain all political seats in the council area.
The PDP Chairman, Oshodi-Isolo branch, Hon. Sunday Olaifa, has boasted of winning various seats in the forthcoming elections as reported by ECHONEWS.
Olaifa said his party stands a greater chance in the forthcoming local council polls, emphasising that, all things being equal, his party will seize the political powers in Oshodi-Isolo LGA in 2021.
Responding to the PDP’s claim of victory, Bello explained that the party is ready for the election.
He claimed that the party will come out victorious in the polls whenever the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) releases the election timetable, adding that all the party members are loyal and its various aspirants are contestants to beat.
According to him the various claims by the opposition party to break APC’s dominance are mere talk of mouth as he emphasised that APC has all it takes to sustain its dominance in the council area.
He said: “Should LASIEC release the timetable today, we are ready. The party in Isolo is a mass movement. Wake them up today they are ready to vote for us. APC is effectively on ground. All we want in the election is winning and we are ready to win. We have aspirants that are very reasonable, who can command followership. All of them can win the election in their respective positions. Though none of the aspirants, so far, has formally informed the party but they’ve been seen working around and I think we should encourage them. All of them are strong on ground.
“All that PDP has been saying cannot amount to anything because, as a party, they are nowhere to be found. They know their worth. At our meetings most members will stand on their feet after we must have provided more than 2,000 seats, that’s to show that we are very much on ground.
“APC members are very loyal. We are on ground, PDP is nowhere even in Lagos State. Whatever the party is saying concerning elections in Isolo are just words of mouth and you know that talk is cheap. Our members are solidly on ground. We will win all positions. PDP can’t take a councillor in Isolo not to talk of chairman, that’s even far from them.”
