The wife of the Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mrs Ramat Bola Kasali, has visited the Skill Acquisition Centre in Orimedu to encourage beneficiaries of a council-supported vocational empowerment programme who recently commenced their training.

The initiative, which began with the registration of participants in August 2025, was facilitated by Mrs Kasali as part of efforts to equip youths in the council area with practical and income-generating skills. She personally sponsored the registration of the trainees and continues to fund their practical sessions, including the weekly provision of training tools and materials.

With the registration process now concluded, beneficiaries have fully commenced training, which is expected to last for nine months. The programme is structured to provide hands-on vocational skills aimed at promoting self-reliance, entrepreneurship and long-term economic independence.

During her visit to the centre, Mrs Kasali interacted with the students, inspected the training facilities and expressed satisfaction with the level of progress recorded so far. She charged the trainees to remain disciplined, focused and committed to the programme, describing the initiative as a strategic investment in their personal development and future livelihoods.

She reaffirmed her commitment to youth empowerment, noting that skills acquisition remains one of the most effective tools for tackling unemployment and social vulnerability.

The students, in their response, expressed appreciation for Mrs Kasali’s continuous support and for taking time to personally visit and motivate them, describing the gesture as a morale booster.

The empowerment programme aligns with the broader development agenda of the Lekki LCDA administration, which prioritises youth development, job creation and the promotion of self-reliance across communities in the council area.
