Following months of leadership crisis, Oluwaloseyi Adewunmi has emerged 25th President of the revered Lagos Country Club, Ikeja. The inauguration ceremony was held at the Club’s Ikeja premises.
Members, trustees, past leaders, Nollywood artistes and friends of the club were in attendance.
The executive team includes Tunji Amosu (Vice President), Toyin Deinde (Secretary General), Abimbola Olaniyi (Treasurer), Francis Ofordu (Membership Secretary), Ose Lato (Social Secretary) Vincent Olasogba (Sports Secretary), and Tokunbo Ashiru (Council Member).
Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Kola Oyefeso, said: “It would have been sheer indifference to inaugurate this Council as if nothing had happened. We must acknowledge what we have passed through for the sake of transparency and institutional memory.”
Oyefeso, who noted that the impression was that we have a “faulty constitution that was capitalised upon,” called for “a comprehensive review to prevent a recurrence.”
Meanwhile, Adewunmi, while expressing his unreserved apologies in his inaugural speech, assured of uniting the divided membership. He also announced plans for a new eSports section aimed at empowering the youth.
Also speaking in a similar vein, the Chairman of the dissolved caretaker committee, Olayinka Ogunmekan, said: “When our caretaker committee was inaugurated, we were christened a rescue team and with the event of this evening, I can boldly say that we have indeed done the rescue.
Ogunmekan, therefore, advised the new management council to see their victory as a reason for vengeance.
“You should start the rebuilding of the battered image of the club,” he said.
