A lawmaker at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Nureni Akinsanya, has nominated four residents in Mushin to become beneficiaries in a training exercise at the state’s newly established Butchers Academy.

Akinsanya, who represents Mushin Constituecy 01 at the Assembly, said the nomination centered on empowering the youths alongside aligning with the state government’s initiative in developing a stronger red meat value chain in the state.

The Chairman House Committee on Public Accounts (Local) at the Assembly also disclosed that the beneficiaries will receive training and be equipped with a containerized meat shop.

He noted that the shops, to be situated in Mushin, will be outfitted with modern amenities including air conditioning, freezers, cooling fans, cutting tables, generators, water tanks, electronic scales, and display freezers.

Akinsanya said, “The nominated youths, all residents of Mushin Constituency 01, will gain valuable skills in meat handling, hygiene, and the standardization of meat sales by kilograms.

“By utilizing the knowledge acquired during the training, you can establish your own businesses and contribute to a reduction in poverty within your families and our community.

“I urge the selected participants to take full advantage of the training program as it will reduce unemployment, contribute positively to the Lagos State economy, and improve the financial well-being of their families.

“I also commend the Lagos State government for this innovative initiative that leverages technology to attract young people to the meat industry, shaping them as the next generation of professional butchers.”
