Lawmaker Kicks Against Indiscriminate Refuse Dumping
By Felix Kuyinu
Lawmaker at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Solomon Bonu, has condemned illegal dumping of refuse on Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
Bonu, who represents Badagry Constituency 01, at the Assembly, mentioned that the Indiscriminate act was done by market users in the area.
The legislator expressed worry over the situation, stating that it is a dent to the image of the state. He added that the market users have obstinate on the regulations of market cleaning, thus, thwarting government’s effort in ensuring tidy environment.
Bonu said: “The Agbara Market in Ogun State has indeed become a significant challenge for the Lagos Waste Management Authority, LAWMA.
“The market’s proximity to the Badagry corridor has led to the Badagry Expressway being used as a refuse dump causing environmental and traffic concerns.
“This has led to the need for swift intervention by the Lagos State Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, and the Lagos State Task Force to work collaboratively to address the issue.
“This issue was one of the critical points I emphasized during the budget preparation. It is crucial for LAWMA and the Lagos State Task Force to address this situation urgently.”
