LASUSTECH Digital Learning Centre Commissioned In Ikorodu
The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu, has taken a bold step toward advancing digital education with the commissioning of a state-of-the-art Digital Learning Centre — a project that promises to transform not only the academic landscape of the institution but also the broader Ikorodu community.
The landmark commissioning ceremony was performed on behalf of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator (Chief) Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, CON, by Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, wife of the Governor of Lagos State.
The event drew prominent dignitaries, including His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, and Hon. Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile, Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, who represented the grassroots leadership of the area. Their presence reflected the unity of purpose between government, academia, and traditional institutions toward equipping young Nigerians with the digital skills needed to thrive in a modern economy.
The newly commissioned Digital Learning Centre is designed to serve as a hub for innovation, research, and capacity building — providing LASUSTECH students with access to advanced ICT tools, high-speed internet, and training in emerging technologies. Beyond the university walls, the project is expected to foster community development across Ikorodu, empowering local youths with opportunities for digital inclusion and entrepreneurship.
Speaking during the ceremony, Dr. (Mrs.) Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the First Lady, which prioritizes youth empowerment through education and technology. She noted that the centre would open doors for innovation-driven learning, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world problem-solving.
Apanisile, in his remarks, described the project as a “timely investment” that would ripple positively across Ikorodu. “This centre will not only benefit LASUSTECH students but also the wider Ikorodu community. It represents a bridge between education and opportunity — a place where knowledge can birth innovation and new ventures,” he said.
Residents and community leaders have lauded the development as a major win for Ikorodu’s educational ecosystem. With the growing presence of LASUSTECH and similar initiatives, Ikorodu continues to solidify its reputation as an emerging hub for academic and technological growth in Lagos State.
The commissioning of the Digital Learning Centre stands as a shining example of what strategic partnerships and visionary leadership can achieve — building a future where technology, education, and community progress go hand in hand.
