LASU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi And Husband To Receive Prestigious UI Alumni Awards

The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, and her husband, Mr Tunji Bello, will be conferred with distinguished honours by the University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA) Worldwide during its Alumni Honours and Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, 3 December 2025, in Abuja.

Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello will be presented with the prestigious ‘Worthy Ambassador’ Award in recognition of her exemplary leadership, remarkable service to education, and transformative contributions to academic excellence and institutional development since assuming office as LASU’s Vice-Chancellor in 2021. The award celebrates outstanding alumni who have demonstrated purposeful leadership and made enduring impacts on higher education and national development.

Her husband, Mr Tunji, a seasoned public servant and distinguished alumnus, will receive the ‘Meritorious Service’ Award for his exceptional dedication and distinguished career in public administration. His notable roles include serving as Honourable Commissioner in various ministries in Lagos State, Secretary to the Lagos State Government, and currently as the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC). The award acknowledges his steadfast commitment to good governance, transparency, and institutional reforms.

The ceremony will be chaired by His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR, mni, the Sultan of Sokoto, and will feature other prominent Nigerians, including His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and His Excellency, Senator George Akume, FNIM, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, as special honourees.

The Lagos State University community heartily congratulates Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello and Mr Tunji Bello on these well-deserved recognitions, which underscore their outstanding contributions to academia, public service, and the development of Nigeria.
