A lecturer at the Department of Education Management, Lagos State University, Dr. Ganiyu Ibikunle has urged the youths in Ojo and its environs to be law-abiding and assist the course of community policing in the area.
According to him, the election period is a great challenge and temptation for them to earn speedy wealth but could be detrimental to their livelihood.
Ibikunle made this remark at the Police Youth Dialogue held at Iba LCDA with the theme: ‘The Police, Youth and the Law: Strategic collaboration for a safer Lagos’.
He noted that as youths, they ought to key into the 3Ps of the police function in keeping their communities safe: ‘Protection, Prevention and Prosecution’.
He advised that these functions should be their day-to-day order in living their lives as more of their impact has felt in the community.
He said their efficiency will build trust between the Police and themselves while encouraging their leaders to be transparent, coordinated and process effective communication while disseminating information to the public to commend the good image of the police.
Ibikunle further advised them to orientate the public more on their rights and caution them to be good ambassadors.
