The Lagos State Government has assigned officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to important junctions and areas that often experience traffic along the Ifako Bridge route. This is part of the state’s plan to manage traffic during the ongoing road repairs.

In a statement released yesterday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, asked drivers to follow traffic signs and obey instructions from officials to keep traffic moving smoothly.

Giwa said that the placement of LASTMA officers was carefully planned to keep traffic flowing, reduce delays, and avoid serious congestion while the repair work continues.

“Despite the partial closure of the bridge, vehicular progression beyond the Ifako axis remains remarkably fluid, with a sustained and orderly flow extending toward the Toll Gate and adjoining routes. This operational efficiency is attributable to the rapid mobilisation and professionalism of LASTMA operatives,” Giwa noted.

Here is a paraphrased and simplified version of your passage with no hyphens, keeping the meaning intact and suitable for general communication:

Giwa expressed appreciation to road users for their patience and cooperation during the ongoing road repairs. He encouraged motorists to remain orderly and show respect to traffic management officers.

He also warned against any driving behavior that could delay the reconstruction work or make traffic conditions worse.

Emphasizing the importance of the project, Giwa explained that the rehabilitation of the Ifako Expansion Joint Bridge is a key investment. It is aimed at improving safety for commuters, strengthening the bridge’s structure, and supporting long-term traffic flow.

The project is expected to last 101 days. The first phase, covering the Ogudu to Ifako route toward Alapere, will run for 50 days from June 28 to August 16, 2025. The second phase, from Ogudu to Ifako heading toward Oworonshoki, will follow immediately for another 51 days, ending on October 5, 2025.

Giwa reassured the public of the government’s commitment to providing critical infrastructure with as little disruption as possible. He encouraged drivers to explore alternative routes, stay alert to traffic updates, and work with LASTMA and other relevant agencies for the latest information.

“For prompt resolution of traffic-related issues, the public is encouraged to contact LASTMA via its toll-free hotline: 0800 005 27862,” Giwa concluded.
