The Lagos State Government, LASG, has issued contravention notice to Firm City, DHL alongside others numbering 67, for encroachment the premises of Lekki Waterfront setback.
LASG also named other firms involved in the act as Jonah Court, Polo Avenue, to mention few.
LASG disclosed that the act is a violation of Lagos State Waterfront Law No 3 of 2009.
Making the notice known through the state’s Commisioner for Waterfront Development, Yacoob Ekundayo, LASG emphasized on its keen interest in sanitizing the arena, thus, keeping intact the law and it’s compliance.
Ekundayo said, ‘In its continued efforts to sanitize the Lagos State Waterfront corridor, the Lagos State Government has served contravention notices on Farm City, Jonah Court, DHL, Polo Avenue and 65 others at Admiralty Way and Wole Olateju in Lekki Phase 1 abating Lekki Cowrie Creek encroaching on Lekki Waterfront setback.
“All the companies served are occupying the waterfront setbacks illegally thereby contravening Lagos State Waterfront law No 3 of 2009 “for the regulation of Waterfront Development in Lagos State and connected purposes.
“These companies are to report to the Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development with available documents/titles authorizing them to use the setback, failure of which may result in the property being sealed or demolished.
He added, ‘The State Government is keeping will continue to provide infrastructural developments and maintain the Lagos State Waterfront by harnessing resources to ensure a well-protected environment that is attractive to tourists and the people of the state.”
