The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the Chairman of Agege Local Government, Mr. Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, are planning to ensure strict safety and cleanliness measures are in place at the Agege railway station.
This was contained in the stakeholders meeting tagged ” Enlarged Stakeholders in a meeting with The Hausa Community and Railway Community on the need to protect the railway line and to prevent fatality on the railway line” held at the Babatunde Raji Fashola Train Terminal in Agege.
Mr. Ganiyu Egunjobi, the Chairman of Agege Local Government, emphasized the importance of orienting the Hausa Community residing near the railway line to relocate and avoid constructing shanties and unauthorized structures that could disrupt the smooth operation of the rail system and inconvenience passengers.
He urged community leaders to inform their residents about the government’s decision to remove obstructions and shanties along the railway axis.
The ultimate goal of this sanitation effort, according to the chairman, is to create a healthy living environment, preserve natural resources, and ensure the safety, security, and dignity of the people.
He also expressed his dedication to collaborating with the community in accordance with the objectives of the Lagos State government.

Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo, the Representative of the Governor of Lagos State and Commissioner for Establishment, Training, and Pension, advised traders near the train station to stop selling in unauthorized areas.
He emphasized his dedication to maintaining order in the vicinity, clarifying that markets are intended for trading, not the railway tracks.
Sanwo-olu warned of legal consequences for those disobeying the law, with potential arrest by law enforcement.
Plans are in progress for a pedestrian bridge at Pen cinema to deter track crossing. Additionally, Mr. Abd’l Kareem Hon Jubreel Ayodeji Abdulkareem, the Lagos Speaker’s representative and member of the Lagos Assembly for Agege Constituency II, urged the Hausa community to adhere to the government’s sanitation directives in the train station area.
CSP Yinka Egbeyemi, the commander of Lagos State Rapid Response Squad, emphasized the importance of issuing warnings beforehand to prevent harm.
He mentioned that failure to adhere to government directives would lead to strict enforcement. SP Adejare Adewale stood in for Egbeyemi during the discussion.
Community representatives requested additional time from the Government before the enforcement, and they also appealed for a pedestrian bridge near Pen Cinema and Agege Market.
Following this, stakeholders visited the vicinity of Babatunde Raji Fashola train station in Agege and cautioned unauthorized individuals occupying spaces around the station.
