LASG Issue Traffic Advisory Ahead of FANTI Carnival
The Lagos State Government yesterday announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold t9daay, Monday, April 6, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island.
The government stated that the traffic measures were put in place to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, noting that vehicular movement would be restricted along major adjoining roads linking the TBS venue.
According to the advisory, affected routes included King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House.
Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road—such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street—were scheduled to be closed to traffic during the event.
To ease parking challenges for attendees, designated car parks were arranged for public use. These included the Yoruba Lawn Tennis Club Car Park, Zone 2 Car Park (opposite Island Club along King George V Road), Museum Kitchen Car Park, and The Bell Car Park (by Island Maternity).
Motorists were advised to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) who were to be deployed across diversion points to ensure smooth traffic flow.
The State Government also appealed to residents and road users for understanding and cooperation throughout the carnival activities.
The advisory was signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi.
