Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, has disclosed that the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and the Office of Rural Development successfully organized the 2024 Food and Nutrition Programme for women farmers in Lagos State on August 13, 2024.
According to Dr. Agabje, the programme demonstrates the government’s commitment to empowering women in agriculture and advancing food security across the state.
Held in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Bank of Industry, the program provided an invaluable platform for women farmers to gain access to essential resources designed to boost their agricultural businesses.
Dr. Agbaje noted, “A key highlight of the event was the series of expert presentations delivered by representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Bank of Industry.”
“These presentations focused on making it easier for women farmers to access credit facilities, which are essential for boosting productivity and driving economic growth in rural communities.”
This initiative is a key component of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s broader strategy to provide women in agriculture with the support and resources they need to succeed.
Dr. Agbaje emphasized that the program’s success reaffirms the government’s commitment to empowering women in agriculture across Lagos State.
“The 2024 Food and Nutrition Programme is a clear demonstration of the collaborative efforts between the involved Ministries and the Bank of Industry, united in their mission to build a sustainable and prosperous future for women farmers in Lagos State,” he stated.
