LASG Announces January 12 Resumption Date for Second Term in Lagos Schools

The Lagos State Government has officially announced Monday, January 12, 2026, as the resumption date for all public and private primary and secondary schools, as well as Government Technical Colleges across the state, marking the commencement of the second term of the 2025/2026 academic session.
The announcement was made in line with the approved Lagos State school calendar, with the government directing all schools to commence academic and administrative activities immediately upon resumption.
In a statement released by the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, school owners, administrators, and stakeholders were urged to strictly comply with all approved public health and safety guidelines ahead of the reopening.
The Commissioner disclosed that government monitoring teams have been deployed to conduct inspections across schools in the state to ensure full compliance with established safety standards and protocols.
According to him, the inspection exercise is aimed at guaranteeing a safe, secure, and conducive learning environment for pupils and students as they return for the new term.
Mr. Alli-Balogun also expressed appreciation to teachers, parents, and guardians for their continued cooperation and support of the state’s education policies, urging them to ensure that all wards resume fully prepared for academic activities.
The Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining quality education delivery while prioritising the health, safety, and overall wellbeing of learners and education workers across the state.
