The Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI), in collaboration with the Coalition of Driving Schools Association in Lagos State, has extended its road safety advocacy to the Lagos-Ibadan toll gate corridor.
The campaign aims to educate motorists on the importance of safety during the festive season.
Addressing participants at the sensitization event, LASDRI General Manager, Mrs. Tiamiyu Afusat, emphasized the need for heightened road safety awareness during the yuletide.
She stated, “Our collective goal for this campaign is to make road safety engaging and memorable.
Through festive illustrations and practical advice, we hope to remind everyone to take extra care, whether they are behind the wheel or walking along the road.”
Mrs. Tiamiyu further highlighted that LASDRI has been conducting the Ember Months safety advocacy since September.
This has included daily safety reminders via radio jingles, audiovisual animations, and outreach programs at motor parks and garages, all aimed at reinforcing responsible driving habits.
She also noted that road union members have been sensitized to cooperate fully with traffic management authorities to ensure smooth and effective traffic flow during the holiday period.
In his remarks, Eagle Bravo, Afolabi Jamiu of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), described the campaign as a “soft reminder” for motorists to prioritize responsible driving and safeguard lives.
Similarly, the Assistant Head Provost of the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), Oladeji Sunday, reiterated that the campaign seeks voluntary compliance with road safety regulations among all road users in Lagos State.
The initiative, a recurring annual event, underscores LASDRI’s commitment to promoting road safety and reducing traffic accidents, particularly during the high-traffic Ember Months.
