The General Manager of Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), Mr Afolabi Solebo advocates for safe products for consumers and called on stronger consumer rights at the FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Limited Regulatory Parley held at the Oludolapo Akinkugbe Academy.
The high-level gathering brought together senior officials from both federal and Lagos State regulatory agencies to promote stronger partnerships and ensure uniform regulatory standards across the board.
Delivering his address, the LASCOPA GM underscored the need for “Safe Products, Confident Consumers” – the official theme of World Consumer Rights Day 2026. He stressed that genuine consumer confidence rests on the consistent availability of safe, high-quality goods that fully comply with national standards and regulatory requirements.
He noted that when consumers are assured of product safety, they are empowered to make informed decisions and participate actively in the marketplace.
Solebo also addressed the critical issues of product replacement and compensation, reminding stakeholders that consumers have a clear right to redress when they receive defective, substandard or unsafe items. He urged businesses to act swiftly by replacing faulty products or offering fair compensation, in full compliance with consumer protection laws.
He further encouraged members of the public to report complaints through the proper channels, assuring them that LASCOPA remains fully committed to safeguarding consumer rights and ensuring fair treatment for all.
The parley served as an important platform for open dialogue, regulatory alignment, and the sharing of best practices. It also highlighted FrieslandCampina WAMCO’s ongoing dedication to maintaining world-class production standards and building transparent, trust-based relationships with regulators.
