The Landmark Community Development Association (CDA), Igbodu, in the Agura axis of Ikorodu Local Government Area, Lagos State, has conferred the prestigious Rural Development Vanguard Award on Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to grassroots development across the state.

The award was presented on Saturday, January 10, 2026, during the association’s 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM), which drew community leaders, residents, and development stakeholders committed to advancing rural growth.

According to the citation read at the ceremony, Dr. Agbaje was honoured for his exceptional dedication to the advancement of rural communities, particularly through initiatives that have improved livelihoods and strengthened sustainable development in Lagos State, in line with broader national development objectives.

Since assuming office, Dr. Agbaje has overseen several targeted interventions across rural communities in Lagos, spanning infrastructure development, electrification, provision of social amenities, and community empowerment programmes. These efforts, stakeholders say, have reinforced the state government’s resolve to ensure that no community is left behind.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of Landmark CDA, Mr. Kunle Oshifuwa, described the award as a reflection of the association’s appreciation for public office holders who demonstrate genuine commitment to rural transformation.

“This recognition is our modest way of appreciating Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje for his visible impact on rural communities. His efforts have translated into real development at the grassroots, and our people can truly feel the difference,” Oshifuwa said.

He added that Landmark CDA remains committed to collaborating with government agencies and development-oriented individuals to accelerate progress within Igbodu and neighbouring communities.

The presentation of the award formed a major highlight of the AGM, underscoring the role of community development associations as critical partners in driving sustainable development and strengthening accountability at the grassroots level.

Dr. Agbaje, who has consistently championed inclusive rural policies under the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, continues to receive commendation from communities across Lagos State for his hands-on approach to rural development and community engagement.
