Lagos is set to host the final of the 2025 Federation Cup on Saturday, June 28, at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Arena. The highly anticipated match will feature first-time finalists Abakaliki FC going head-to-head against Kwara United.

According to the source, several other venues were considered, including the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, the Remo Stars Sports Complex, and the Bwari Township Stadium.

However, the NFF ultimately decided to bring the final back to its “traditional home ground” in Lagos, citing the successful hosting of the previous edition at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Arena.

The Mobolaji Johnson Sports Arena, originally built in 1930 as Onikan Stadium, underwent a significant renovation in 2019. With a seating capacity of 10,000.

It stands as one of several prominent Lagos stadiums – alongside the National Stadium Surulere, Teslim Balogun Stadium, and Agege Township Stadium that have historically hosted the highest number of Federation Cup matches.

This prestigious competition has evolved through various names over the years, including the Governors Cup, Nigeria Challenge Cup, Coca-Cola FA Cup, Nigeria Federation Cup, Aiteo Federation Cup, and is now known as the President’s Federation Cup.
