Lagos Taskforce Arrests Drivers, Motorcyclist For Plying Prohibited Roads

The Lagos State Taskforce has arrested at least 42 bus drivers and motorcyclists for contravening stipulated laws through plying of prohibited roads.
The agency made the arrest of the motorists numbered 28 alongside 14 commercial motorcyclists for driving through BRT lanes and also impounding their vehicles and motorcycles.
Chairman of the Taskforce, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, stated that the enforcement was carried out during at the Lagos-Abeokuta corridor at Oshodi, Ikeja Along, Ladipo bus Stop, Mangoro, Adealu, Iyana-Ipaja Underbridge, Ile-Epo and Super bus stops and Abule-Egba locations.
Abdulkareem, on Wednesday, informed that the enforcement was in line with the state government’s keen interest to eliminate dangers posed by commercial motorcyclists and motorists who drive through the BRT lanes and other prohibited roads in the metropolis.
The Chairman also disclosed that the officers also apprehended hoodlums at Dolphin Estate and Falomo Bridge, adding that all the lawbreakers would be charged to court.
He added that all confiscated vehicles and motorcycles would also face prosecution, and could be forfeited to the state after their trial, in line with the state’s Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.
The agency urged all road users to be law abiding and reiterated its commitment to ensure sustainability in enforcement operations untill full compliance with traffic laws is achieved accross the state.
