Lagos State Taskforce-led by CSP Shola Jejeloye has served a removal notice to squatters and occupants of shanties and illegal structures at Alabarago in Ojo Local Government Area of the State, directing them to vacate the area immediately.

Recall that on the 19th of May 2022, the taskforce had served illegal occupants of the shanties a similar notice advising them to move out of the settlement which had been marked for demolition by the State Government.

In a statement issued by Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, its Director, Press & Public Affairs, Chairman Jejeloye described the State of habitation in the area as deplorable and not fit for human occupancy due to the unhygienic activities and closeness of the shanties to the canal and drainage system in that axis.

“Illegal traders, occupants and miscreants should be ready to leave this place any moment from now. We have served them eviction notice previously to vacate this place but they have defied the instructions of the Government by inhabiting here”.

The Chairman assured them that the notice served to them two years ago still stands and will be enforced in the near future.

“Some of the occupants here believe the notice served two years ago no longer stands but I want to assure them that nothing has invalidated the notice and they should be prepared for demolition any minute from now”. Jejeloye stated

He assured Lagosians that no stone will be left unturned till environmental degradation is completely stamped out of the State. He reiterated the commitment of the Lagos State Task Force to enforce strict compliance to environmental laws as enshrined in Governor Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES PLUS agenda.
