Social media influencer Ayomiposi Oluwadahunsi, popularly known as Mandy Kiss, has been unveiled as a brand ambassador for the Lagos State Kick Against Drug and Substance Abuse (LASKADA) initiative.
The appointment was conferred by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, during an event organised by LASKADA in Lagos. Ogunlende urged residents to unite against substance abuse, which he described as a “pandemic” plaguing many communities.
According to the commissioner, the state government is adopting innovative strategies to curb the menace, including engaging public figures and influencers with significant followership to amplify its message. Mandy Kiss, who has more than 400,000 followers online, is expected to use her platform to promote awareness and discourage drug abuse among young people.
The decision has, however, sparked public debate. Mandy Kiss recently courted controversy after announcing a planned “marathon sex act” with 100 men in a single day—an idea she later dismissed as a joke. The Guinness World Records (GWR) had also publicly disassociated itself from the claim, stating that it does not monitor or recognise sexual activity as a category.
While critics called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to sanction the influencer, the Lagos government defended its choice, stressing the importance of second chances. “Everybody has a past,” Ogunlende said, expressing confidence that Mandy Kiss would channel her influence into positive advocacy at the grassroots.
LASKADA serves as Lagos State’s coordinating body for tackling drug and substance abuse through advocacy, community engagement, policy influence, and research.
