The Lagos State Government, this morning, sealed the Ladipo Spare Parts Market located along the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road (Apapa–Oshodi Expressway) over repeated violations of environmental regulations.

According to government officials, the enforcement action followed persistent indiscriminate disposal of refuse on the road median and highway, as well as illegal street trading that posed environmental, health, and traffic risks along the busy corridor.

The closure aligns with the state’s zero-tolerance stance on environmental degradation, as authorities stressed that previous warnings and engagements with market stakeholders were ignored.

Officials noted that activities around the market had contributed to severe traffic obstruction, unsanitary conditions, and visual blight, undermining Lagos State’s efforts to maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and safety on major roads—particularly one linking to the international airport.

The government reiterated that markets and traders across the state must operate within approved guidelines, emphasizing that no individual or commercial cluster is above the law.

Residents and commuters welcomed the action, calling for sustained enforcement to deter future violations, while the state urged affected traders to comply fully with environmental laws before any consideration for reopening.

The development reinforces Lagos State’s commitment to environmental protection, urban order, and public safety under its #ZeroToleranceLagos policy.
