The Chief Judge of Lagos State and Chairman of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), Hon. Justice Kazeem Olanrewaju Alogba, on Tuesday officiated the swearing-in of 30 newly appointed members of the Customary Court in Lagos State.
During the ceremony, Justice Alogba charged the new appointees to uphold fairness as the foundation of justice, urging them to dispense their duties impartially and without bias. “Do not do anything to pollute the stream of justice,” he cautioned, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the integrity of the judicial system.
The Chief Judge also called for respectful and harmonious conduct during court proceedings, encouraging the appointees to promote mutual understanding within their courts. Additionally, he stressed the significance of professional attire, reminding them that their appearance should reflect the dignity and decorum of the judiciary.
In her address, the Executive Secretary of the Judicial Service Commission, Mrs. Adebola Odeyemi, urged the new members to approach their roles with dedication and diligence. She advised them to safeguard confidential information and maintain the highest standards of professionalism in their duties.
The swearing-in ceremony is seen as a crucial step in strengthening the Customary Court system in Lagos State, reinforcing its capacity to deliver justice at the grassroots level.
