The Lagos State Government has sealed two public toilets over offences bordering on air pollution, a violation of the environment laws in area.

During the enforcement yesterday, the state’s Wastewater Management office agency informed that the exercise was held following several complaints of offensive odour coming from the facilities, posing serious health concerns in the environment.

The agency disclosed that the infringement alongside other unhealthy incidents are contributing factors towards the negative reports of the recorded water borne diseases suffered by the residents.

The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, stressed that the closure of the toilets situated at Oke-Arin and Adeniji Adele Road were held to sensitize more on the necessities of cleanliness and to ensure that violators are prosecuted.

Wahab enjoined the public to regularly evacuate their septic tanks and soak-away pits. He warned that the state government hass zero tolerance to indiscriminate discharge of untreated wastewater into the environment.
