Lagos Residents Decry Hunger, Bad Governance In July 12 Protests

The residents in Lagos have expressed concern over the lingering hardship, hunger experienced in the country, calling for the government’s intervention to provide solace and better living conditions for the citizens in the country.

Despite a heavy presence of the Police and other security agencies, the residents, in commemoration of the June 12 date trooped out in numbers at Obafemi Awolowo Road in Ikeja capital of the state, displayed emotional agitation over the incidents, displaying placards of what they expect from the government in making the country better for all and sundry.

The agitators, as early as 7am, gathered at the scene protesting the experiences under the led administration of Bola Tinubu which they termed as ”absence of genuine democracy, gross inequality and letdown of law and order.”

Several placards which reads ”Free All Protesters Now”, ”Say No To Multiple Bills”, ”Pay The Soldiers And Police Better”, ”Tinubu, We Are Hungry”, to mention few were displaced by the remonstrators who spoke their minds and are expecting a positive response by the government over the issues.

One of them, who identified himself simply as Detoun, said that the living conditions in the over two years of the ruling government have gone progressively worse compared to earlier governments.

”The conditions have really gotten worse. Really, we complained about the past government and expected a different scenario under Tinubu but things have gone really bad, I must tell you.

”Are we going to talk about the recent increase in prices of foods, increase in electricity tariff, even prices of goods have really increased. Really, the government has to do something because its not good this way.”

The protesters disclosed that they hope the Federal Government hears their cries and makes amends to the challenges faced by them for better living conditions and promising future.
