The Lagos State Government, LASG, has provided monetary support to families of deceased workers of local government secretariats in the state.
LASG also presented support to families of deceased persons of the state’s Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB.
During the presentation on Friday, the sum of N443,000,000 was given to the beneficiaries numbered 132.
The state’s Commissioner, Ministry of Local Gorvernment, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Bolaji Robert, said that the initiative aligns with the commitment of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in ensuring staff welfare and enabling a conducive working atmosphere for civil servants.
Robert, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Kikelomo Bolarinwa, also disclosed that the presentation was organized to commensurate the quality of service delivery displayed by the deceased persons towards contributing to the developments in the area.
At the Ministry’s Conference Room in Alausa, Ikeja, where the presentation was held, the Commissioner uttered: “We recognise that no amount of financial compensation can replace the love, care, and companionship of our departed loved ones.
“However, we hope that these benefits will provide some measure of comfort, financial security, and support during this difficult time.
“Kudos to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the prompt payment of premium claims to families of deceased members of staff. The consistency in payment by the State Government has ensured that the dependants of these civil servants who have passed on do not suffer.
He continued: “This is to urge the beneficiaries to ensure the benefits are used to honour the deceased persons by ensuring they are wisely invested to cater for their family members.”
