Lagos MOJ, MDA, To Hold Dialogue On Law Enforcement Reforms

The Lagos State Ministry of Justice in collaboration with the state’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDA, has scheduled a forum to discuss ways to improve enforcement of laws in the area.

The delegation billed to be held on the 23rd and 24th of October will strengthen inter-agency collaboration and ensure more developments in the state, as disclosed by the MOJ.

The Ministry informed that the event which will be held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja will involve stakeholders from the MOJ and MDA’s platform for critical discussions which will be aimed at enhancing coordination among law enforcement agencies, improve prosecution processes, and ensure compliance with legal protocols across the state.

Dignatories from the Nigerian Police, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Nigerian Correctional Service, and other agencies will be present to discuss ongoing challenges in law enforcement and prosecution.

The event will begin with a discuss by the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro, SAN, which will be followed with remarks from the state’s Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The second day of the event will focus on the state’s Lands and Environment. The Lands Bureau, New Towns Development Authority, NTDA, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA, and other agencies will dialogue on the harmonization of MDA operations to improve service delivery and reduce government liability exposure in land administration and environmental management.

A dedicated session will also address Chieftaincy Matters and the future of Local Government Administration. This will involve royal figures who will deliver keynote address to inform on activities put up in the traditional level of government.

Pedro hinted on the event saying: “This meeting is critical to further align our objectives with the THEMES PLUS AGENDA of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, to improve on how we enforce and prosecute cases across sectors.

“We aim to develop actionable strategies that will drive more efficient legal processes and ensure that all enforcement actions are properly coordinated.”
