The Member representing Mushin Federal Constituency II, Mr. Toyin Fayinka has been honored with the Legislative Excellence Award by The Federal Institute of Industrial Research (FIIRO) branch of Senior Staff Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associated Institutions (SSAUTHRIAJ).
The award presentation took place during the 2024 SSAUTHRIAJ Day Celebration at FIIRO auditorium in Oshodi, Lagos State.
Comrade Togunde Oyekola, the Chairman of the organization, highlighted Hon. Fayinka’s achievement in empowerment projects and his approachability to the public. He stated that the lawmaker was chosen for the award due to his outstanding representation within his Constituency.
In his remarks, Mr. Fayinka praised the institute and its Director General for recognizing him with the award, stating that it motivates him to work harder for the people who elected him.
He commended FIIRO for its significant contributions to the country’s economic development through research and notable accomplishments.
“This institute was established in 1953 and I know the first soghrum for malt drink was processed here and I am also glad that this institute is in my Constituency,” Hon. Fayinka said.
On the Motion to move the institute out of the present location, Mr. Fayinka said he is working with other lawmakers to ensure the Institute remains in its present location.
“I have called for the reverse of this Motion because this is a heritage within our Constituency. We have several federal research institutions across the geopolitical zones.
So the question is why FIIRO? We will continue to represent our people’s interest and development at the green chamber,” Hon. Fayinka said.
He urged Civil Servants at the institute to prioritize providing high-quality service to the public, emphasizing that they are accountable to the people as public servants.
He also encouraged them to focus on building strong institutions and promoting professionalism. Additionally, other recipients of awards at the event included Dr. Adamu Jummai, who received the Visionary Award, Mr. Olúwaṣeun Suraju, who was honored with the Anti-Corruption Award, and Barrister Kehinde Hassan, who also received the Legal Excellence Award.
