The Lagos State Government has held a training exercise for new recruits into law enforcement agencies in an attempt to further ensure law and order in the area.
At the training of the new officers which centred on emotional intelligence, professionalism, the use of force and also ways in enhancing their capacity to maintain peace and order in the metropolis, the state’s Deputy Governor, Kadri Hamzat, stated that the exercise was aimed at improving professionalism, dedication and proactivenes in the discharge of their duties.
Hamzat, who was represented by the Commissioner for Transportation in the state, Oluwasegun Osiyemi, noted that the initiative will also provide an avenue for staff welfare and professional development.
The Deputy Governor lauded the Law Enforcement Training Institute, LETI, for conducting the training exercise and added: “LETI’s training programs have greatly improved grassroots governance, with past participants earning community trust through their professionalism.
“Following the training, the new graduates are expected to uphold and surpass these standards as there is need to ensure law and order in Lagos.
“There is also need for public cooperation as this will yield lots of successes from the efforts of our law enforcement agencies.
“With community support, the agencies will be able to carry out their duties efficiently for the benefit of out state”.
The state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro, SAN, praised LETI for its professionalism, commitment, and adherence to its mandate.
He disclosed that the government is focused on equipping the officers with necessary skills and proper training to ensure eligibility of personels into the agencies.
“The new LETI law signed by Governor Sanwo-Olu is in line with the administration’s commitment to ensure law and order.
“We urged the graduands to prioritize integrity and professionalism.”
