Lagos Govt Warns Against Assault On Law Enforcement Officials

The Lagos State Government has issued a stern warning to residents in the area to desist from assaulting officers the state’s enforcement agencies, stating that necessary sanctions await violators of the regulation.

The executive arm stated that the directive became necessary following reports of attacks aimed at workers of state agencies which has generated reactions of a letdown of law and order.

The Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Central Business District, CBD, Bola Olumegbon-Lawal, said that the act which is liable to cause a breach of peace is a violation against the imposed laws of the state.

Lawal, during a Ministerial Briefing held at the state’s Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, disclosed that three officials of the CBD were assaulted while they were carrying out their duties.

She mentioned that law enforcement agencies are regularly trained to ensure serenity with members of the public, adding that henceforth, the officers will be on guard to ensure compliance with the directive.

“We will not tolerate any act of violence against our officers,” said Lawal.

” Anyone found guilty of assaulting law enforcement personnel will be brought to justice.

“As much as we train our officers regularly on how to relate professionally with members of the public, we frown at any action of violence.

While urging for corporation from the public, she said, “We urge all stakeholders to protect government assets in their environment and to obey all traffic rules. These facilities belong to all of us and must not be left at the mercy of vandals.”
