The Lagos State Government has endorsed the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy, LJLA, by signing it’s bill Into law.
The government approved the academy as a statutory institution which is expected to nurture the next generation of leaders.
Reacting to the initiative, the Executive Secretary of LJLA, Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade, said that the milestone marks a historic moment in the Academy’s journey as it transits from a visionary initiative into a legal entity with the full backing of the Lagos State Government.
The feat, according to Agbaje-Okunade, signals an even stronger commitment to the Academy’s mission of shaping exceptional young professionals into ethical, competent and reform-driven leaders through rigorous public service immersion and leadership development.
“This is more than the passage of a bill; it is the birth of a legacy. The Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy is now a legal institution empowered to deliver on its mandate with greater structure and impact.” she said.
“We are even more resolute in our commitment to raising the calibre of leaders our public sector deserves, leaders who reflect the ideals of excellence, integrity, and service.”
“Since its inception in 2022, the Academy has provided an intensive, immersive fellowship programme that places young Nigerians in the heart of public administration, working directly with Lagos State EXCO members, Permanent Secretaries, and Heads of key government agencies.
“With the signing of the bill, LJLA is poised to deepen its influence and scale its impact in producing visionary leaders capable of driving transformative change in Lagos State and beyond.
“The enactment of the LJLA law is a significant stride towards institutionalizing leadership development in the public sector, creating a pipeline of talent that will ensure continuity, innovation, and excellence in governance.”
