Lagos Govt Seals Facility Over Environmental Pollution
By Felix Kuyinu
The Lagos State Government has shut down activities at a firm in Ikeja for contravening the stipulated environmental laws.
The firm, Irorun Plaza, on Kudirat Abiola Way, was said to have put up the act by allowing raw sewage being discharged into the public drainage system causing unpleasant sight and odour in the environment.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, stated on Friday that the enforcement was carried out by officials of the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office, LSWMO.
Wahab said that the firm ignored several complains by nearby residents to address the situation.
He mentioned that the perpetrators deliberately ignored the overfilled septic tank and put the health of the residents in danger.
The Commissioner warned the residents to imbibe cleanliness culture and contribute towards the state’s target and efforts in ensuring a clean environment for all.
