Lagos is strengthening its security architecture through a new partnership between the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) and indigenous manufacturer Equipment and Protective Applications International Limited (EPAIL).

The collaboration took shape following a strategic visit by LSSTF officials to EPAIL’s production facility along the Lagos-Ibadan corridor, where discussions centred on scaling the supply of locally manufactured protective gear and defence-grade equipment for security agencies across the state.

Leading the delegation, LSSTF Executive Secretary Ayo Ogunsan underscored the importance of building a resilient, locally driven security ecosystem, one that reduces dependence on imports while delivering solutions tailored to Nigeria’s unique operational landscape.

At its core, the initiative is about more than security; it is a calculated investment in local capacity. By championing “Made-in-Nigeria” equipment, Lagos aims to cut foreign exchange pressures, create jobs, and strengthen technical expertise within the country’s defence manufacturing space.

Officials also pointed to the practical gains of sourcing equipment domestically, including faster turnaround times, greater flexibility in customisation, and improved long-term sustainability of security investments.

For EPAIL, the partnership signals growing institutional trust in local innovation. The company reaffirmed its readiness to deliver high-quality protective solutions, from ballistic gear to advanced security systems—designed to meet evolving threats.

Ultimately, the alliance reflects a broader recalibration of Lagos’ security strategy, where public sector vision meets private sector capability, and local industry becomes a frontline player in protecting lives, property, and economic growth.
