Lagos Bubbles As 2025 BDFA RAK League Set For Kickoff

The 2025 edition of the noble Badagry Divisional Football Association (BDFA) RAK League have been scheduled to kickoff on Wednesday, March 19.

This year’s edition will witness 48 teams jostling for honors in the men’s category while 16 clubs will fight for glory in the women’s category.

The 48 men’s teams will be grouped in to four zones where the two top clubs in each zone qualify for the Super Eight playoffs which will decide the ultimate winner of the League. The women’s category will be divided into two zones and the top two teams from each zone qualify for the Super Four playoffs and the matches will be played across nine mini sport stadiums under the jurisdiction of the BDFA.

Chairman of BDFA, Dr Osondu Martins has expressed optimism that the 2025 edition of the BDFA RAK League impact will be exponential to the participating clubs and players.

He assured there will be impartiality and no special treatment will be accorded to any of the teams taking part in the competitive.

The sport administrator added that decisions will be based on objective criteria without prejudice or favoritism while complaints or actions will be judged on facts and evidence, rather than personal opinions or feelings.

He further urged the clubs to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and prioritize the development of players and coaches.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Youth and Social Development, Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende was impressed with the initiative of the BDFA RAK League and commended the BDFA leadership led by Osondu for thinking outside the box in engaging Badagry youths productively.

The winner in the men’s category will walk home with N500,000, 1st runner up will be handed N300,000, while the second runner up and fourth place teams will settle for N200,000 and N100,000 including medals and trophy.

The winner in the women’s category will earn N300,000, while the first runner up will take home N300,000. The second runner up and fourth place team will be compensated with N100,000 and N50,000 respectively.

The RAK Foundation have been the sole sponsor for the Badagry League for six years. The League have produced super stars like former Nigeria U20 left back, Solomon Agbalaka who now plays in Georgia, David Durosimi who ply his trade in Czech Republic and many others. The BDFA RAK League prides itself with top teams who competes in the Nationwide League One (NLO1) Roro FC and Youngstars FC in NLO 2.
