Lagos Attorney Hosts Newly Appointed Commisioner of Police

The Lagos State Attorney General and Commisioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro, SAN, has paid host to the newly appointed Commisioner of Police in the state, Olanrewaju Olawale, CP, to reinforce collaborative efforts between the security agency and the judiciary.

The duo, on Tuesday, had a deliberation at the conference room of the state’s Ministry of Justice at Alausa Secretariat in Ikeja, emphasizing on the need for stronger collaboration to address security issues affecting the metropolis.

The Attorney said that the state has experienced security issues, particularly the ever-growing menace of land grabbing which has been a huge concern for the state’s residents and government.

Pedro also reaffirmed the importance of the partnership between the two bodies highlighting the need for unending dialogue to protect the rights of the citizens.

The Commisioner for Justice also mentioned that an effective collaboration between the two bodies is crucial for delivery and quick dispensation of justice.

Lawal uttered that the dialogue will provide avenue for collective dedication to uphold the rule of law and make sure that citizens enjoy fundamental rights as enshrined in the constitution.

In remark, the Police Commisioner expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and unwavering support of the Attorney General in handling cases brought forward by the police force.

He said, “Our visit today is to strengthen the already existing cooperation between the police and legal officers in the State. Together, we are committed to building a safer Lagos.

“The ongoing efforts of the police to curb illegal land activities is important. The Police Force assures the public that actions will be intensified in operations to protect citizens’ rights and properties.

“The problem of land grabbing is a growing concern, and it is affecting the peace and security of many communities. By working closely with the Attorney Generals office, we will ensure that offenders are not only apprehended but also prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” he reassured.

In response to the CP’s assurance, the Attorney pledged saying : “The police will provide initiatives on the development of new policies that would close legal loopholes exploited by criminals and foster accountability and efficient prosecution of cases.
