Lagos Assembly members visit Suru-Alaba market amid building demolition

The Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Physical Planning and Urban Development, Hon. Sylvester Ogunkelu has paid an oversight visit to the Suru-Alaba market in Ifelodun LCDA to garner situation report over the demolished Irepodun Central Mosque.
Alongside his counterpart, Hon. Lukmon Olumoh, who represents Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency 01 at the Lagos House of Assembly, both lawmakers in company of the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Urban Development, Dr. Olajide Babatunde; the General Manager of Lagos State Building Control Agency (LABSCA), Gbolahan Oki, and several other Lagos State Government officials, inspected the demolished area and some other parts.
The market men and women were sensitized on building their structures according to rules and codes of the State. The lawmakers stressed that the market users must contact the relevant agency before the commencement of their construction and involving them in every stage of the building process.
They were also advised to obtain their certificate at the end of the construction so as to avoid their buildings from being published for removal in the nearest future and to ensure their safety.
The people of Suru-Alaba appreciated the visit by the Assembly members and passed a vote of confidence on Hon.Olumoh for his diligent representation and wise leadership.
Hon. Ogunkelu, in same vein, expressed appreciation for Hon. Olumoh’s advocacy, acknowledging his commitment to ensuring his constituents’ plights are aired on the floor of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
