The All Progressives Congress (APC) held its chairmanship primaries across several Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos on Saturday, producing winners in keenly contested ballots as well as clear victories in uncontested regions.
In Kosofe, Segun Ogunlewe emerged victorious with 25 votes after his rival reportedly attempted to withdraw from the race earlier in the day.
However, the withdrawal process was not successfully completed as the person sent to submit the withdrawal did not meet any official.
At Ifelodun LCDA, Okeowo clinched the ticket with 24 valid votes, while one vote was declared invalid.
Ejigbo LCDA saw Taoreed Taiwo secure a clear win with 16 votes. Olusumade O. and Habeeb Omowunmi polled 5 and 4 votes respectively, while one vote was invalidated.
In Lagos Island East, Muyibi Alade dominated the field with 24 votes, while Taiwo A. and AbdulGaniyu managed just one vote each.
In a tightly contested primary in Amuwo Odofin, Sanusi Ismail emerged with 15 votes, defeating Sulaiman Junaid who garnered 5 votes, and Folorusho Olaitan who had 4. One vote was invalidated.
Ojo Local Government produced a landslide for Rufai Muibat, who secured 23 votes to win the ticket.
At Lagos Island LG, Taiwo Oyekan was declared winner with 25 votes, leaving opponent Olayigbade with a single vote.
Ikorodu North saw Ameen Wale win unopposed with 23 votes.
In Eti-Osa, Agunbiade triumphed with 17 votes, defeating Kampus (5 votes) and Balogun Rasheed (1 vote). Notably, the incumbent was defeated in this contest.
Badagry LG witnessed Babatunde Humphrey clinch victory with 16 votes, beating Afose Suuru who got 10.
In Epe LG, Surah Animashaun emerged the winner with 23 votes, while one vote was invalid.
Isolo LCDA saw Olasoju win decisively with 25 votes. Fapohunda Olabode got 1 vote, while others had no recorded votes.
The Ibeju-Lekki result appeared to mirror that of Isolo LCDA, with Turakat Idowu receiving 4 votes, and Babatunde polling 1. The status of Okowa Sesan was mentioned, though without a confirmed tally.
Overall, the primaries reflect a mix of strong political influence, last-minute withdrawals, and a few upsets.
