Kosofe Chairman’s Cup 2024: Team Mende Emerges Winner, Takes Home ₦1,000,000 Cash prize

The 2024 edition of the Kosofe Chairman’s Cup has come to a close, with Team Mende emerging as the winner. The team took home a cash prize of ₦1,000,000, while the first and second runners-up, Team Ọjọ́ta and Team Orile-Oworo, received ₦500,000 and ₦250,000 respectively.

The Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Barr Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, congratulated Team Mende on their victory and commended all three teams for their exceptional performances in the keenly contested tournament. The chairman’s congratulatory message was delivered at the finals, which was attended by the Honourable Minister of Youth Development of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Hon Ayodele Olawande.

Ogunlewe encouraged the participating teams to maintain their sporting spirit and continue developing their skills in preparation for the next edition. He noted that the Chairman’s Cup aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope youth and sports development agenda, as well as Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ Agenda.

The Kosofe Chairman’s Cup is an annual football tournament aimed at promoting youth development and sports in the local government area. The tournament provides a platform for young footballers to showcase their talents and develop their skills.
