Kendra FC edge out NIPOST FC
Kendra FC was able to survive a scare against the bottom ranked team in the Ogundele Football League by defeating NIPOST FC with a lone goal despite the fact that NIPOST played the last 20 minutes of the match with 10 men after their player was given marching orders by the center referee for handling the ball with his hand in the 18 meter box.
Kendra was able to grind out the win, by scoring the line goal in the 71st minute through Muhktar who buried the opponent’s hope with the penalty kick.
Nipost FC started the match brightly by giving their opponent a fight for their money despite been the underdog in the encounter.
Nipost FC forced a great save from the goalie of Kendra in the 6th minute from an ambitious effort from 20 meters.
Nipost FC pulled a great save to deny Kendra FC from the edge of the 18 meters box.
Nipost FC should have gone ahead in the 33rd minute but their striker couldn’t connect to a loose ball to put In the empty net after a cross that was put in from the wing beat all Kendra FC defence and goalkeeper.
Kendra FC dominated the first half against the bottom ranked team but the bottom ranked team put up a brave performance.
Kendra FC was denied by a goal line clearance from the defender of Nipost FC in the 65th minute.
Kendra FC was given a life line in the 70th minute after the defender of Nipost FC used his hand to make a clearance in the 18 meters box which the center referee wasted no time pointing to the penalty spot to signal a penalty which Muhktar scored, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Kendra FC should have recorded more goals in their favour, but they failed to utilize their scoring opportunities despite having numerical advantage over their opponent.
Kendra remain at the top of the league table with a total of 11 points from 5 matches played, while Nipost remain rooted to the bottom of the league table with zero point and a total of mine goals conceded.
