The Executive Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Hon. Otunba Kehinde Oloyede has disturbed food items and cash gifts to the widows, the elderly and other needy residents.
He also distributed 400 GCE forms to the indigent students as well as empowerment materials to some youths.
According to him, the gesture was part of his campaign promises to take care of the needy in the community.
Each beneficiary of the food items got a 5kg bag of rice , beans and garri while others got cash.
The council boss said the gesture, which he tagged ‘Community Based Programme’, would be a continuum as part of the programmes by his administration.
He explained that the objective of the programme is to support the needy especially the widows and to empower the youths to reduce unemployment.
According to him, effort will be made to ensure that youths are taken off the streets by engaging them in vocational skills that will keep them busy and earn them means of living.
Commending the council chairman for the gesture, the beneficiaries of the maiden edition of the programme, expressed gratitude as they looked forward to the continuation of the programme.
