Jubilation in Lagos As Supreme Court Affirms Sanwo-Olu’s Election

There was jubilation in Lagos among supporters of the All Progressives Congress as the Supreme Court affirmed the election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The executive chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, Hon. Chief (Mrs) Bola Shobowale JP described the judgement of the Supreme Court as a “sound one” that would further deepen the country’s electoral laws and judicial jurisprudence.

In a statement by her chief press secretary, Rasaq Jimoh, the chairman said the judgement had finally settled the legal battle over the 2023 general election, saying lovers of democracy must commend the resilience of the judiciary in deepening the country’s democracy through its sound judgments.

It read, “On behalf of the good people of Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, the management’s, legislator’s, staff, and the APC family, I congratulate and rejoice with Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the deputy Governor, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, on their victory as the duly elected governor, and deputy governor of the “state of excellent” at the Supreme Court.

“Today’s judgement has put to an end the needless bickering, distractions and litigation that greeted the 2023 election. It is my hope that the opposition will team up with our governor (Mr sellable) to move our dear state forward in the overall interest of the state.”
Okeowo Congratulates Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat on Supreme Court Verdict

The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, has congratulated Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat on their victory at the Supreme Court, on the validation of their election by a Supreme Court ruling delivered today, Friday, January 12, 2024.

Mayor Okeowo, in a statement personally signed by him, said it was refreshing that the apex court stamped the last and final seal on the governor’s victory, noting that the matter has been laid to rest and that the governor can fully concentrate on his T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda, which is making Lagos State a 21st Century Megacity, Entertainment & Tourism; Security & Governance, Social Inclusion, Gender Equality and Youth.

According to him, “It is with delight that we received the verdict of the Supreme Court on the case challenging the victory of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. The verdict is as refreshing as it is instructive in closing the chapter of the matter.

“Myself, the entire Executive Members, the Legislators, the Management team, the entire workforce, and the good people of Ifelodun LCDA, heartily congratulate Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat on their well deserved victory. While we appreciate the need to test the integrity of the victory at the apex court in the land, we are gladdened that all doubts have been put to rest”

Nothing that the victory was an affirmation of the will of the good people of Lagos State, he said, “The verdict affirms the choice of Lagosians. It is a victory for democracy; it affirms the collective will of the Lagosians who voted overwhelmingly for the APC and Governor Sanwo-Olu, and it reinforces the confidence of the nation in our judiciary as the ultimate defender of the people’s interests.
