Johnson dialogues with youths, charges them to be politically active

The youths under the umbrella of Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson (GAJ) Youth Coalition Initiative have been advised to take up active roles in politics and strive to be part of decision making on the affairs of the country.

The member, Federal House of Representatives representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, Hon. Ganiyu Johnson gave the advice during a dialogue between him and the youths to formulate a framework that would further enhance policy implementation in the constituency.

The lawmaker, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Ismail Aregbesola, urged the youths to actively use their youthful strength to advocate for their full and active participation in decision making processes, considering their population which he said dominates the largest percentage of the world.

While commending the organisers of the dialogue which he termed first of its kind in the constituency, Johnson said he was in support of the programme and such others which would foster youths’ energy to formulate strategic plans to address real issues affecting young people in the constituency as he promised that more initiatives within the constituency would be unveiled soon.

Speaking on theme of the dialogue “Real Issues, Real Solutions: Making lasting impact”, the Chief Executive Officer of African CleanUp Initiative and the Guest Speaker on the programme, Mr AlexGreat Akhigbe, challenged youths to rise and take their rightful position in the political space.

He stated that the youths determine who govern the affairs of the country, emphasising that it is time for a dutiful call to utilize their youthful energy by getting involve in decision making processes.

He appreciates Hon. Engr. Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson for building youth oriented constituency.

The Speaker was honoured with Humanity Champion Award by the Youth Coalition Initiative for his contributions towards the development of the community.

Speaking about the dialogue, the Convener, Amb. Abiodun Ajayi said: “GAJ Youth Coalition Initiative is passionate about promoting good governance through youth inclusiveness in our constituency.”

Ajayi appreciated all the delegates and assured them of continuous improvement and engagement by making the youths in the constituency great again, pledging that more innovative programmes channeled towards growth would soon be unveiled in the constituency.

He said narratives has started changing as he implore all youths in the Isolo and Ejigbo to allow unity reign among them.

Certification of participation and a book Consent 101: How not to be Rapist written by Olanrewaju Ojo (Lojo) was given to all participants. 120 copies of the book were donated to GAJ Cause.

Youths from Isolo and Ejigbo were engaged in a group discussion where they came up with real issues the youths are facing in their communities as they suggested lasting solutions to the identified challenges.

They thereafter came up with communique to be presented to the lawmaker for further implementation.
